“Hallowe’en….a contraction of All-Hallows-Even (“evening”), is an annual holiday observed on October 31, which commonly includes activities such as trick-or-treating, attending costume parties… telling scary stories, and watching horror films”.

“A great excuse for baking cupcakes!!”

So having pulled the innards out of the obligatory carved pumpkin, the question of what to do with it now is once again raised.  Having tried to cook and bake various pumpkin dishes over the years, I have come to the conclusion that I just can’t stand it.  However, I also can’t stand waste so once more attempted to bake something that didn’t taste like Freddy Kruger’s face.  I found a little recipe for pumpkin and white chocolate cupcakes and added an orange flavoured butter icing which actually is quite tasty!  A bit like carrot cake only not  quite as flavoursome….

So I decided to give them to any Trick or Treaters that dare to darken my door tonight and have baked some delicious Red Velvet chocolate cakes filled with blood (jam!) and topped with Cream Cheese butter icing to keep for myself instead! Hurrah!

That’s probably a little bit evil but if you can’t be evil on All-Hallows-Even…then when can you!  Mwah ha ha ha!
